Abstract

Two cases of open head trauma with penetrating wound by a wood piece are presented. Vegetal foreign bodies may ron misdiagnosed as they are radiolucent in roentgen examination and show the appearance of air in computerized tomography (CT) scanning. By using different CT windows it is possible to determine the nature of a foreign body when it is completely retained inside the skull. The high risk of infection carried by wooden penetrating wound is emphasized.
