Revisamos 6 casos de meningioma intracraneal en niños. Cuatro fueron del sexo masculino, y dos del femenino. Las edades estaban comprendidas entre 8 meses y 13 años. El síntoma más frecuente fue crisis comicial en 3 pacientes (50%). Otras presentaciones clínicas fueron: déficit neurológico 1 paciente (16.6%), enoftalmos 1 paciente (16.6%), y hallazgo casual 1 paciente (16.6%). En cinco casos se practicó resección macroscópica total, y en uno resección subtotal. El tiempo medio de seguimiento fue 2.5 años. En el paciente con resección subtotal se pudo comprobar progresión tumoral, con deterioro neurológico y muerte. De los cinco pacientes con resección macroscópica total en uno se comprobó recidiva tumoral. Revisamos la literatura sobre la etiopatogenia, los criterios clínicos, radiológicos, hallazgos quirúrgicos, y pronóstico de esta infrecuente patología en este grupo de edad.

We present six cases of intracranial meningioma in children. Four out of these six patients were males and two females. The age range was eigth months to thirteen years. The most common clinical presentation was a seizure in 3 patientes (50%). Others clinical presentations were: neurological deficit in one patient (16.6%), enophtalmos in one patient (16.6%), and incidental finding in one patient (16.6%). In five patients we performed total macroscopic resection, and one patient had subtotal resection. The mean time of follow up was 2.5 years. The patient having subtotal resection showed tumoral progression with neurological deterioration and death. In the group of patients having total resection one showed recurrence. The authors review the pathogenesis, clinical features, radiological presentation, operative findings and final outcome of meningiomas in children.
