Summary

Between September 1976 and February 1990 a series of 30 patients with peripheral facial paralysis after resection of acoustic neuromas or parotid-gland surgery were treated by hypoglossal-facial anastomosis (hypoglossal-facial/hypoglossal-hypoglossal in 43,33% of cases). Patients were separated into two groups: early and delayed anastomosis. In the first group 61,54% of the patiens presented- excessive reinnervation and in the second group 94,12% of the patiens had good or excellent results. The results are analyzed and discussed.
