En los oligodendrogliomas la microscopía electrónica muestra células tumorales con características morfológicas propias de los oligodendrocitos. Un detalle característico es la observación de que las prolongaciones de las células del tumor muestran tendencia a formar laminillas concéntricas que se interpretan como un intento de formación de vainas de mielina.
In oligodendrogliomas, electron microscopy shows tumor cells with morphologic features of oligodendrocytes. A characteristic features is the observation of cell processes showing a marked tendency towards a lamellar organisation, with spirals known as concentric membrane structures, which are thought to represent an attempt at primitive myelin sheath formation.
