Se ha estudiado la productividad científica de los neurocirujanos españoles miembros de la Sociedad LusoEspañola de Neurocirugía, usando como fuente de las referencias el Indice Médico Español y su suplemento internacional de los años 1982 a 1986. Se ha realizado un amplio estudio bibliométrico descriptivo, se han aplicado las leyes de Lotka y Bradford y se ha calculado el índice firmas/trabajo. Las principales conclusiones de nuestro trabajo son: la productividad del grupo es de 0.18 artículos/miembro/ año; la productividad es mayor en autores de Madrid y Castilla- León y en los hospitales Clínicos; los principales temas fueron los tumores intracraneales, patología vascular y dolor; la mitad de los artículos se publicaron en revistas españolas y el resto en revistas de USA y Europa occidental y en inglés; el núcleo de publicaciones lo constituye el Journal of Neurosurgery, Acta Neurochirurgica (Wien) Revista Clínica Española; finalmente, el índice firmas/ trabajo es de 3.82.

The scientific productivity of the Spanish neurosurgeons members of the Sociedad Luso-Española de Neurocirugía has been studied. The source of references was the Indice Médico Español and its intemational supplement, being reviewed the volumes of the years 1982 to 1986. A wide descriptive bibliometric study has been done and also Lotka's and Bradford's laws were applied and the ratio authors/publication was calculated. The main conclusions of our study are: the productivity of the group is 0,18 papers/member/year; the productivity is higher in authors from Madrid and Castilla-León and working in University Hospitals; the main subjets of publications were intracranial tumors, vascular diseases and pain; a half of papers were published in Spanish joumals and the rest in USA and West European journals using English as language; the core of publications is the Joumal of Neurosurgery, Acta Neurochirurgica (Wien) and Revista Clínica Española; and, finaly, the ratio authors/publication is 3.82.
