La agenesia congénita de pedículo en una vértebra cervical suele diagnosticarse de forma incidental en pacientes con cervicalgia, después de sufrir un traumatismo. Su tratamiento es conservador.
Se describe un caso de agenesia de pedículo en la cuarta vértebra cervical. Se exponen las claves principales para el diagnóstico, basado en los hallazgos en radiología simple y TC espiral. Los signos radiológicos son característicos, aunque con frecuencia se confunden con una luxación unilateral de articulaciones interapo-flsarias, cuyo tratamiento consiste en tracción cervical o fijación quirúrgica.
Congenital absence of a cervical pedicle is usually an incidental finding in radiological studies made after trauma in patients with cervical pain.
We report the case of a patient with congenital absence of the right pedicle in a cervical vertebra. Recognition of this anomaly is important to avoid confusion with more clinically significant anomalies, such as unilateral facet dislocation, that may result in inappropriate surgical intervention.
