Los aneurismas de la arteria temporal superficial son lesiones vasculares infrecuentes constituyendo del 0,5 al 2,5% de todos los aneurismas intervenidos en diferentes series. La mayoría de ellos aparecen tras traumatismos en la región frontotemporal. Presentamos el caso de un paciente que desarrolló un aneurisma de la arteria temporal superficial secundario a una herida contusa frontal. Estas lesiones deberían sospecharse ante la presencia de una masa, generalmente pulsátil, en el trayecto de la arteria temporal superficial, a fin de evitar complicaciones hemorrágicas inesperadas.
Superficial temporal artery aneurysms are relatively rare vascular injuries. They account from 0.5 to 2.5% of all reported aneurysms. Most of them are caused by trauma on the frontotemporal region. A patient who developed a superficial temporal artery aneurysm after a blunt scalp trauma is presented. These lesions should be suspected in patients who present with a history of injury and a pulsatile mass over the course of the superficial temporal artery, in order to avoid unexpected hemorrhagic complications.
