Arachnoid cyst rupture causing subdural hygroma is rare. Twenty-one cases have been previously reported in the literature. We report a case of a 9-year-old boy presenting signs and symptoms of increased intracra-nial pressure due to the rupture of a type III arachnoid cyst causing subdural hygroma. The clinical and radio-logical findings as well as the management of the patient are discussed in relation to the pertinent literature.
La ruptura de un quiste aracnoideo que cause un higroma subdural es rara. Se han publicado veintiun casos en la literatura. Presentamos el caso de un niño de 9 años, con signos de hipertensión intracraneal, debido a la ruptura de un quiste arcnoideo tipo III, que da lugar a un higroma subdural. Se describen los hallazgos clínicos y radiológicos, así como la conducta a seguir, en relación con la literatura pertinente.
