Autoevaluación del efecto de la estimulación medular en el tratamiento del dolor de origen raquimedular

Resumen

Un total de 37 pacientes tratados con un sistema de estimulación medular (EEM) para tratamiento de dolor crónico de origen raquimedular se autoevalúan por medio de una encuesta anónima. Un total de 22 pacientes responde la encuesta y 16 utilizan el sistema de EEM. La intensidad del dolor, medido por la escala visual analógica, era antes del tratamiento de 8,8±1,9 puntos y después de, una media de 39,4 meses de seguimiento era de 3,8±3,2 puntos (p<0,001). La media horaria de uso del sistema de EEM era de 8,7 horas. El estado de salud fue valorado a través del perfil de Nottingham. Los aspectos de la salud más afectados en los pacientes eran el sueño, dolor, y actividad física, mientras que las actividades más afectadas eran las tareas domésticas.

Summary

A total of 37 patients suffering chronic pain secondary to spine and spinal cord diseases and treated with spinal cord stimulation (SCS) autoevaluated their situation by means of an anonymous questionnaire. 22 patients responded and 16 were using the SCS system. Pain intensity was measured using the analogous visual scale. The mean score was 8.8±1.9 points before SCS and 3.8±3.2 points after SCS (p<0.001). The mean follow-up was 39.4 months. Patients used SCS system dayly a mean of 8.7 hours. Health status was evaluated with the Nottingham profile being the most afected points the sleep, pain energy and physic activity and domestic work the most afected role.
