Summary

The natural history of lumbar disc hernation in conservatively trated patientes is not entirely clear. The spontaneous resolution in several cases of lumbar and cervical disc herniations has been well documented by computerized tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance (RM), but the mechanism of regression remains unknow. The author performed a retrospective analysis of the theories reported in the literature and presents his experience with conservative therapy of herniated nucleus pulposus.
