Resumen

La presencia de gas intervertebral en relación con el fenómeno de vacío ha sido ampliamente descrita y se considera que está unida a enfermedad degenerativa discal. Esta revisión ilustra una variedad de colecciones gaseosas lumbares a nivel del espacio discal, espacio epidural y facetas articulares, diagnosticadas por Tomografía computerizada (CT). Se revisa la patofisiología del gas intradiscal.

Summary

The occurrence of intervertebral gas secondary to the vacuum phenomenon has been previously described and is thought to be pathognomonic of degenerative disk disease. The purpose of this review is to illustrate a variety of gas coIlections at the level of the lumbar intervertebral disk, the epidural space and the lumbar facet joints. This disorder is most often identified by computed tomographic. The pathophysiology of gas within a disk space is reviewed.
