Se analiza la técnica quirúrgica de una serie de 60 pacientes afectos de escafocefalia, y tratados durante el periodo comprendido entre 1988 y 1994. Este grupo de niños representó el 69,7% de una serie total de 86 casos de cierre precoz de sutura sagital tratados en nuestro servicio.
Se describen la posición, la fragmentación craneal y las craniectomías en cuña practicadas en estos pacientes. Esta técnica nos proporcionó muy buenos resultados tanto en lo que se refiere a la estética craneal como a la inmediatez de los mismos.
The surgical technique for inmediate correction in a series of 60 children with scaphocephaly diagnosed and treated between 1988 and 1994 is described. These patients represented a 69.7% out of 86 children having sagittal synostosis since 1983 in our Craniofacial Unit.
The position, skull morcellation and edge craniectomies are described. This technique resulted in an earlier and better cosmetic results.
