The case of a giant cavernous hemangioma of the right cavernous sinus in a 52 year-old woman presenting with right visual loss is described. The angiographic, computerized tomography scan and magnetic resonance findings are analyzed. Tumor removal was impossible because of profuse intraoperative hemorrhage. The volume of the mass was significantly reduced by local postsurgical irradiation with a dose of 50Gy. A follow-up magnetic resonance performed one year later showed no evidence of lesion recurrence. The difficulties with the management of these uncommon lesions are commented and the Iiterature is reviewed.
