Summary

Traumatic hematomas of the corpus callosum are rareo We present three cases of corpus callosum hematoma caused by head injuries. The initial Glasgow Coma Scale score was between 7 and 8, but two of the patients scored higher initially. In all the three patients the location of the impact was in the occipital region being probably directed towards the skull base. Computerized tomography clearly showed the hematoma located in the posterior part of the corpus callosum. Treatment was conservative in two cases, and surgery was performed in one case. Memory disturbance and apraxia were seen at the follow-up but resolved between 6 and 12 months in all cases. MR was performed in two patients showing postraumatic atrophy.
