Oligodendrogliomas rarely present exophytic growth in the cerebello-pontine angle, and the destruction of adjacent bone with extracranial extension has not been reported. We present the case of an oligodendroglioma with intra and extracranial extension causing bone destruction. The literature is reviewed. The lesion was radically removed and 5.000 cGy of external beam irradiation was administered post-operatively. The patient remains well three years after surgery without evidence of tumour recurrence.
Los oligodendrogliomas se presentan raramente con crecimiento exofítico en el ángulo ponto-cerebeloso provocando destrucción ósea y extensión extracraneal. Presentamos un caso de oligodendroglioma de la fosa posterior que causaba destrucción ósea y se extendía extracranealmente. Se revisa la literatura. El tumor fue extirpado radicalmente y el paciente, que fue tratado con radioterapia postoperatoria (5000 Gy), está asintomático tres años después de la cirugía sin presentar signos de recurrencia.
