From a group of intracranial meningiomas seen in our Service in the last eight years, we found ten patients older than 70 years of age. All, except one, were operated on. Excellent or good results were obtained in aH of them. We reached the following conclusions:
- 1)
There is an increase in the number of intracranial meningiomas diagnosed recently in the elderly.
- 2)
Mental deterioration is probably the most common symptom.
- 3)
Angiography might increase the morbidity and may be avoided in these patients.
- 4)
With microsurgical technique they can be removed completely with no mortality and little morbidity.
