Resumen

Presentamos nuestra serie de 25 pacientes intervenidos en el Hospital Puerta del Mar, desde 1982 hasta 1997, de lesiones del ventrículo lateral cerebral. Pretendemos hacer un estudio comparativo entre los métodos diagnósticos y terapéuticos que se practicaban hace 25 años, con los actuales, basándonos para ello en la serie de 25 enfermos presentada por Obrador y cols. en su Monografía de 1972, cotejando sus resultados con los nuestros y los que hemos obtenido al revisar la literatura.

Probablemente sea éste uno de los apartados neuroquirúrgicos en el que los procederes clínico terapéuticos han sufrido una renovación más radical, resultando evidente el vuelco espectacular producido en todos los aspectos, habiéndose pasado de un pronóstico de estos pacientes verdaderamente infausto a otro mucho más favorable, consiguiéndose, con los métodos actuales, un porcentaje importante de supervivencias con buena calidad de vida, e, incluso, de curaciones.

Summary

The authors analyze a personal series of 25 patients with lesions of the lateral ventricle operated between 1982 and 1997. A comparative study of our results with those published by a group of spanish neurosurgeons in 1972 is made.

The impact of neur diagnostic and surgical techniques on the final outcome of patients operated for lateral ventricle tumors is commented.
