Se realiza una revisión de la literatura sobre el uso de la profilaxis antibiótica en el paciente neuroquirúrgico. Se consideran la clasificación de las infecciones, los aspectos microbiológicos, los factores de riesgo y las pautas a aplicar en la práictica clínica. Se ha realizado además un metaanálisis de los ensayos controlados y no controlados aparecidos hasta la actualidad.
The authors reviewed the literature related with the use of prophylactic antibiotics in neurosurgery. Classification of the type of infection, microbiology, risk factors and therapeutic approaches to be used in the clinical setting are considered and a metaanalysis of the previous controlled and uncontrolled clinical trials is made.
