Se presenta el caso de una paciente de 5 años de edad en que un abordaje transbasal permitió la resección subtotal de un craneofaringioma intensamente calcificado, previamente intervenido con resultado mediocre, por vía pterional. El abordaje utilizado fue el descrito por Beals como nivel 11, transfrontal-nasal, de los abordajes transfaciales, con preservación del aparato olfatorio. El resultado ha sido muy satisfactorio, con resección superior al 90% de la lesión y sin secuelas neurológicas ni cosméticas.
The authors present the case of a 5-year-old little girl with an ossified craniopharyngioma, 5cm in diameter, which was subtotally (more than 90%) resected by level 11 transfrontal-nasal approach of Beals’ classification of transfacial approaches. The result has been excellent, the girl showing total clinical recovery, with olfaction preservation and no cosmetic sequelae.
