We report a retrospective study of the surgical results in 124 patients suffering Carpal Tunnel Syndrome operated in our Neurosurgical Service between 1989 and 1994. In this series there were 150 hands operated and 14 reoperated. We analyse the surgical results obtained with distal forearm regional block anaesthesia at the operative site and brachial plexus block. We also analyze the preoperative valve of the electrophysiological study and compare the results obtained with different incisions, anesthetic techniques and the duration of hospitalization. We observed better results in patients with positive entrapment at the preoperative electrodiagnostic tets and a lower incidence of complications with distal forearm regional block anesthesia and longitudinal incision. The results were satisfactory in 88% of ambulatory patients. Ouerall, we achiened good results in 85% of cases.
