Pigmented villonodular synovitis commonly occurs in synovial joints of the appendicular skeleton, but rarely affects the synovial joints of the spine. It has both neoplastic and reactive features, and its etiology is thought to be posttraumatic. In this paper we describe the clinical, radiological, and histological features of a case of pigmented villonodular synovitis in a 53-yearold patient. To our knowledge, this is the eleventh case reported in literature.
