Se presenta un caso de tumor de células gigantes de localización esfenoclival. El diagnóstico radiológico incluyó tomografía computarizada y resonancia magnética craneales y en esta última la lesión presentaba una señal intermedia que característicamente no se incrementaba en las imágenes potenciadas en T2.
El paciente fue intervenido mediante maxilotomía Le Fort I siendo posteriormente sometido a un ciclo completo de Telecobaltoterapia.
Se discute el diagnóstico diferencial y la actitud terapéutica.
A case of a giant-cell tumor of the sphenoid bone is described. A CT scan and cranial MR were performedo MR showed a lesion of intermediate signal intensity that was not increased on T2 weighted images unlike other cranial base neoplasms.
The tumor was approached through a Le Fort I maxillotomy achieving a gross total removal. Postoperative radiation therapy was administered.
The differential diagnosis and tlierapeutic management of these tumors is discussed.
