Summary

Five cases of cerebral vasospasm associated with intraventricular or subarachnoid hemorrhage caused by a ruptured intracranial arteriovenous malformation are reported. In one patient cerebral vasospasm transiently reduced blood flow through the malformation, preventing angiographic visualization of the nidus and the draining veins. The rarity and possible mechanisms of cerebrovascular spasm following the rupture of AVMs are discussed.
