Resumen

Se describe el caso de un varón de 63 años que desarrolló un cuadro de intenso dolor lumbar y paraparesia como consecuencia de un absceso epidural espontáneo de raquis dorsal por Serratia Liquefaciens. La resonancia magnética (RM) determinó el nivel de la lesión. El tratamiento quirúrgico mediante laminectomía descompresiva permitió un diagnóstico definitivo, el alivio inmediato del dolor y la recuperación progresiva de los síntomas neurológicos.

Summary

The authors report a case of a 63 year-old man who developed an excruciating lumbar pain and paraparesis because of a spinal epidural abscess caused by Serratia Liquefaciens. The MRI showed the level of the lesiono Surgical evacuation by laminectomy provided a definitive diagnosis, immediately relieved the pain and improved the neurological symptoms.
