La lesión fue erroneamente diagnosticada, desde el punto de vista clínico, como un quiste pilonidal. Los ependimomas subcutáneos de la región sacrocoxígea representan una rara entidad clínica. Suelen ser ependimomas de la variante mixopapilar y verosímilmente se originan a partir de restos embrionarios de la zona.
