C-0320 - TRANSCALLOSAL TRANSLAMINAR TERMINALIS APPROACH FOR SUPRASELLAR TERATOMA RESECTION

G. Aldave Orzaiz

Texas Childrens Hospital, Houston, USA.

Objectives: Suprasellar teratomas represent one of the most challenging tumors. Some of the approaches require working through narrow corridors that do not always allow the right view of the main anatomical structures around the tumor. Our aim is to present a transcallosal translaminar terminalis approach as a novel alternative for tumors in this region.

Methods: We present a case of a 12 year old girl with a large suprasellar teratoma who underwent a complete resection of the tumor through this approach.

Results: In the video we show how the transcallosal corridor behind the anterior communicating artery allows an optimized opening of the lamina extending up to the anterior commissure. This allows a wider exposure of the tumor compared to the classic approaches through the lamina terminalis.

Conclusions: We demonstrate that the transcallosal translamina terminalis approach can become a good alternative for a particular type of sellar-suprasellar tumors.
